There is a wealth of things to do and places to visit in and around Cape Town. Recently promoted as the Cape Town "Big 6" unforgettable experiences are -:
* Table Mountain Cableway.
* Robben Island.
* Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point.
* Constantia Vineyards.
* The Victoria & Albert Waterfront.
* Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
NOTE - Robben Island trips are very popular and in season you can wait upto a week to get a place. You can only book at the Mandela Gateway situated in the Clocktower part of the Waterfront. If you are keen to go on this interesting trip, my advice is to book tickets as soon as you arrive in Cape Town.
The V & A Waterfront is the main area for most people with bars,restaurants etc, and so many shops ! Many boat trips leave from here as do the helicopter rides. There is much to do here, it's also a great meeting place, have a drink and people watch !
Other V & A Waterfront attractions are -:

* Helicopter flips around the Peninsular / Cape town.
* Semi rigid boat ride (1 hour ) around the harbour and local bays (opp Hildebrands restaurant )

THE EVENT - Takes place 11th June to 11th July 2010
The whole of South Africa has the buzz about this spectacular event and the Rainbow Nation will put on a show to remember. The 32 participating teams will be hosted in 9 cities.They are -

The Quarter Finals will be played at Johannesburg (Soccer City & Ellis Park) Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
The Semi Finals will be played at Cape Town and Durban.
The 3rd & 4th Place play off will be played at Port Elizabeth.

CAPE TOWN -

A brand new stadium is being constructed in the Green Point area, very close to the main V&A Waterfront area. It will have a capacity of 68,000. It is on course to be completed by the scheduled date of 14th December 2009.
The Green Point stadium will host FIVE first round matches, ONE second round match, ONE quarter final and ONE semi final.
